Indications for use
Dry eye syndrome, Sjogren’s syndrome (dry keratoconjunctivitis), slight erosion of the cornea, postoperative state of sight; to reduce itching and feel discomfort in the eyes with their usual irritation by wind, dust ingress, smoking, atmospheric pollution, contact lens use, etc .; eye fatigue caused by prolonged reading, driving, watching TV or using a computer.
Composition of the substance
1 ml of solution contains hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (gipromelozy) 5 mg;
Excipients: dexpanthenol, sodium chloride, disodium edetate dihydrate, benzalkonium chloride, water for injection.
Form release. Eye drops.
Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics. The drug Gipromeloz-P contains hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose (gipromelozu) – an ophthalmic drug that has a protective, epithelial, antiseptic and moisturizing effect. The drug provides rapid relaxation with a slight irritation of the eyes of non-infectious origin, removes the sensation of “dry eyes.” Hypromellose is a water-soluble derivative of a natural polymer of cellulose. It increases the viscosity of the fluid, resulting in slowing its flow and increasing the duration of contact with the cornea. Thus, hypromelosis affects the biological availability of the drug, although it does not reveal any pharmacological action itself. The drug has high astringent properties and covers the cornea and the entire surface of the anterior parts of the eye, moisturizing them, preventing dryness, that is, gipromelioz together with sodium chloride are used as artificial tears. The drug Gipromeloz-P also contains vitamin B – dexpanthenol, which is easily oxidized in cells, turning into pantothenic acid. This acid, as a component of the coenzyme-A, participates in the complete cycle of biologically important metabolic processes required by the body for the formation and regeneration of the skin and tissues, promotes accelerated corneal epithelization.
Pharmacokinetics. The pharmacokinetics of the eye product in humans has not been investigated, but considering the size of the molecules of the gipromelozy, its absorption through intact tissues is hardly possible.
